This immersive experience displayed a 1940s living space. As you walk through the installation the viewer will hear side conversations in Japanese. The lights will subtly change into a darker mood to focus attention on the conversations being heard inside. Within moments after the Japanese conversations fade the attention is drawn to the radio and the tv as a recording from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s statement declaring war on Japan. About a minute into his speech a demonic effect plays over his recording as the lamps begin to flicker creating an unsettling feeling. As FDR’s eerie speech fades a war plane can be heard flying outside the house. As soon as the plane flies over air raid sirens and searchlights fill the space causing the viewer to feel as though they are now part of the story. To conclude the experience the viewer is led to the backdoor of the room leading to a back alley filled with coats and bright lights guiding the viewer back to the beginning of the experience.
